The Shuunnya promise

About 50 mg per litre of free chlorine for a 30 minute contact time, then rinsed until your tap reads under 1 mg per litre, with the reading taken in front of you and photographs on the card.

  • Sludge lifted out and vacuumed, never stirred back or flushed down.
  • Sodium hypochlorite at about 50 mg/l free chlorine for 30 minutes.
  • Rinsed until the tap reads under 1 mg/l, the IS 10500 limit, shown to you.
  • Before and after photographs of the interior and the lid on your card.

Details

Rs 899 cleans one overhead tank up to 1,000 litres. Each further 1,000 litres is Rs 400. The method, in order, because a tank clean is exactly as good as its sequence: the tank is isolated and drained; the sludge is removed by hand rather than stirred back into the water; walls, floor and the underside of the lid are brushed; the whole interior is high-pressure rinsed; the residue is vacuumed out rather than washed down into your own down-pipe; and then it is disinfected. The disinfectant is named because a tank clean that skips it or waters it down is the standard version of this job. We use sodium hypochlorite dosed to leave about 50 mg per litre of free chlorine, held for a 30 minute contact time, then drained and rinsed until the free chlorine at your tap reads under 1 milligram per litre, which is the acceptable limit under IS 10500. The reading is taken in front of you and written on the card, along with before and after photographs of the tank interior and the lid, so the job is a thing you can see rather than a thing you were told about. Two honest limits. A cleaned tank is not potable water. We clean and disinfect the tank; what arrives in it afterwards is the supply's business, and the only way to know what is in your water is a laboratory test against IS 10500, which we can arrange at Rs 900 as an optional extra rather than implying it was included. And a tank clean costs water: draining and rinsing 1,000 litres takes roughly another 1,000 litres. If your supply is off that day, do not book it, and we will say that when you call rather than arrive and improvise.

  • Not included: repairing or replacing the tank, lid or float valve, a structurally cracked tank, plumbing work, and the down-pipes and household lines
  • The Gaya roster is being built, so this page names a service area and no arrival time. There is no crew size printed here, no response-time promise and no arrival window, because we would be inventing all three.

Product information

What is included
Capacity
One overhead tank up to 1,000 litres for Rs 899. Rs 400 for each further 1,000 litres
The sequence
Isolated and drained, sludge lifted out by hand rather than stirred back into the water, walls, floor and the underside of the lid brushed, interior high-pressure rinsed, residue vacuumed out rather than flushed down your own line
Disinfection
Sodium hypochlorite dosed to leave about 50 milligrams per litre of free chlorine, held for a 30 minute contact time
The rinse down
Drained and rinsed until free chlorine at your tap reads under 1 milligram per litre, which is the acceptable limit under IS 10500
Evidence
The free chlorine reading taken in front of you and written on your card, with before and after photographs of the tank interior and the lid
Also checked
Lid seal and fit, inlet and outlet, overflow, and whether the tank is open to birds, insects or dust, all reported on the card
Time on site
90 minutes to 2 hours for a single 1,000 litre tank
What is not included
A potability claim
We clean and disinfect the tank. We do not certify your water. A sample tested against IS 10500 at a NABL-accredited laboratory is Rs 900, optional, and stated as optional
The water used
Draining and rinsing a 1,000 litre tank takes about another 1,000 litres. If your supply is off that day, do not book it, and we will say so when you call
Repairs
Repairing or replacing the tank, the lid, the float valve or the overflow is a separate quoted job
A cracked tank
A structurally cracked tank is not cleaned and made to look fine. It is reported on the card and quoted for replacement
Plumbing
Down-pipes, household lines, filters and the pump are on the plumbing rate
Underground sumps
A sump is confined-space work with a different method, a different price and a safety procedure of its own. It is a separate booking
Who comes, and what happens if it goes wrong
Vetting
Police verification through the local station for anyone entering a home, references from previous work actually contacted, and a trade test plus supervised jobs before the person carries a booking alone. A licence, where the trade has one, is checked against the issuing register and not against a photocopy.
Licence
No statutory licence exists for water tank cleaning in India, and we will not invent one. What exists is the trade registration, police verification, and our own trade test, plus confined-space training for sump work, which is the only part of this trade where a lack of training actually kills people.
Employed or engaged
At launch the tradesperson may be engaged through our partner network rather than salaried. We say that plainly because the common cheat is a platform that advertises its own crew and dispatches whoever is free. The verification, the method, the checklist and the bill for a redo are ours either way.
Named before arrival
You are told the name of the person assigned and which trade licence they carry when the job is assigned, which may be shortly before the visit rather than days ahead.
Service area
Gaya town and up to 10 km beyond the municipal limit. A booking outside that area is refused at checkout rather than accepted and then missed.
Rework window
30 days. If the tank is found unclean or the lid was not resealed, we return and redo it at no charge
Not covered
Sediment arriving from your supply after the clean, a tank left open, and anything altered by someone else afterwards
Chemical
Sodium hypochlorite carries an available-chlorine assay, because weak hypochlorite is the cheat here and 50 mg per litre of a solution that is not what it says is not 50 mg per litre
Damage
Damage caused by our tool or our hand is repaired at our cost. An old tank with brittle walls, a perished lid gasket or a corroded inlet is photographed before we start
