Rs 799 is about 3 person-hours on one bathroom, which is roughly Rs 266 a person-hour. On a whole-home clean the same work runs at about Rs 146 a person-hour, and the difference is not a markup, it is that a single-room booking carries the whole of the travel, the setting up and the chemical on one room instead of spreading it over a day. That is why booking a second bathroom in the same visit is Rs 649, and why a kitchen plus two bathroom booking is dearer than the 2 BHK whole-home price that already contains all three. We would rather you could do that arithmetic than trust us. What 3 person-hours actually buys: wall tiles and grout scrubbed, not wiped; floor tiles and grout worked by hand at the edges; the WC inside, outside, behind, and the pedestal and the concealed cistern face; the wash basin, its trap and the wall behind it; taps, showers, health faucet and the mirror descaled; the floor trap and drain cleared and flushed; the door, its frame and any louvre; the exhaust fan grille and blade; and the ceiling and cornice cobwebbed. Hard-water scale is where honesty is needed. Scale on chrome and glass comes off with an acidic descaler. Scale that has been left long enough to etch the glass or pit the chrome does not come off, because the surface underneath is already damaged, and no amount of scrubbing brings it back. We will show you which of the two you have, before we start rather than after. And we do not use hydrochloric acid, which is what gets used to make a badly stained bathroom look dramatic in one visit: it takes the glaze off the tile, corrodes the fittings and burns the grout out, and the bathroom is permanently worse for a day of looking better.
