Deep is not a word with a meaning in this market, so here is ours, in numbers. Rs 3,499 buys 24 person-hours on site for a home up to 2 BHK, which is Rs 146 a person-hour, against a printed room-by-room checklist you initial as each room is done. How those hours are split, three people for eight hours or four for six, depends on who is rostered that day, and we will not print a crew size we cannot guarantee. What we will guarantee is the hours and the list: if the list is not finished, we come back and finish it at no extra charge. Included, itemised rather than gestured at: ceiling fans, blades and the top of the motor housing; light fittings and grills; skirting, switch plates, doors and door frames; window channels, grills and the inside face of the glass; cupboard tops, loft fronts, and behind and under anything movable; walls dusted and cobwebbed; floors scrubbed and mopped with the corners and grout lines worked by hand; the kitchen and both bathrooms in the same visit. The four things people ask about most, answered directly. The ceiling fan is included. The kitchen exhaust fan grille and blade are included; the chimney is not, and it is a separate booking with its own method. The balcony is included, floor, railing and grille up to the parapet. The inside of the fridge is not included unless you empty it first, and if you do, it is Rs 300. Cupboard and wardrobe interiors are the same: exteriors and tops always, interiors only if they are empty when we arrive. And two honest limits. Beds, almirahs and anything genuinely heavy are covered and cleaned around rather than moved, because moving them is how floors and furniture get damaged. Painted walls are dusted and cobwebbed, not washed, because washing distemper and most emulsion takes the paint off with the dirt.
