Details
Most wardrobes fail the same way. Too much hanging space, not enough shelf, one deep drawer that becomes a pit, and a top shelf nobody can reach. Seventy five minutes at the A.P. Colony showroom, planning yours around what you actually own, counted honestly. We work through hanging length for long and short garments, shelf heights for folded stacks, drawer depths that suit your things, and where the mirror, the trouser rack and the locker belong. Then the shutter: hinged, sliding or a walk-in run, and you operate each one rather than look at a photograph of it. Sliding shutters photograph beautifully and remove access to half the wardrobe at any moment, which matters more in a small room than anyone admits at the showroom. The cheat in wardrobe quoting is the same one that runs through kitchens: a rate per running foot that quietly excludes the things a wardrobe is actually made of. So the estimate you leave with is itemised section by section, and the board grade is named separately for carcass and for shutter, because those are routinely different and only one of them is ever mentioned. Ours is a boiling water proof board to IS 710 for the carcass and an 18 mm board with a 2 mm edge band for the shutter, and you will find the ISI mark and the mill stamp printed on the face of the board when it reaches your site. Look for it before it is cut. After laminating, grade is invisible and nobody can settle the argument.

- Fee adjustment
- The full Rs 1,200 is deducted from your final order value. It stacks with the site visit and 3D fees and all come off once, against your first confirmed order
What it does not include
- No measurement
- Nobody comes to your home. Bring wall-to-wall dimensions or book the Rs 500 site visit
- No 3D
- No rendered elevation. A 3D view of the wardrobe is a separate booking
- No working drawings
- No shop drawings and no cutting list. Those are produced after you confirm an order
- Not the wardrobe
- This is a design fee. The wardrobe itself starts at Rs 68,000 for a 6 ft floor to ceiling unit and is quoted separately
- Room preparation
- Flooring, plaster, paint and any electrical point for internal lighting are yours to complete before fitting, and are not in any figure from this session
Board, hardware, drawings and the small print
- Carcass board
- Boiling water proof marine grade to IS 710 as standard. The alternatives are named too: boiling water resistant to IS 303, commercial ply, MDF and particleboard, in descending order of what they survive
- Shutter board
- Quoted as its own line, because carcass and shutter grades are routinely different and only one of them usually gets mentioned. Ours is 18 mm with a 2 mm edge band
- How you check it
- The ISI mark and the mill's stamp are printed on the board face. Look for them when the boards reach your site and before anything is cut. After laminating, grade is invisible and the argument cannot be settled
- Hardware
- Soft close hinges and drawer channels from an authorised supplier, the maker's name stamped into the hinge arm. An unbranded hinge has a blank arm, and that is how a substitution is caught after fitting
- Who owns the plan
- The internal layout and the estimate are yours whether or not you order, unwatermarked and unstamped, and you may take them to any other firm. We keep a copy for 3 years and do not use your room in marketing without asking
- Revisions
- One revised internal plan within 30 days at no charge. A further session is another Rs 1,200, also adjustable against an order
- Validity
- The estimate holds for 30 days. Appointment within 3 working days of booking, which is a lead time and not an arrival time
