Details

On an installation day there are usually four trades and one homeowner trying to hold them together. The carpenter needs the electrician, the electrician needs the point marked, the plumber has gone for lunch, and the counter cannot be templated until the carcass is level. This puts one of our supervisors on site instead of you. Rs 2,500 covers a full working day of eight hours. The supervisor sets the sequence, checks level, plumb, alignment, shutter gaps and service positions as the work proceeds rather than after it, stops work that is being done wrong while it can still be undone cheaply, and sends you a written end of day report with photographs. The cheat worth naming here is the supervision charge that reappears. A firm sells a turnkey package with supervision inside it, then bills supervision again as a site visit when the day arrives. On a Majestic turnkey package this is included and you never book it, never pay it, and it is not a line on your bill. This page exists for the other case: the joinery is ours and the other trades are yours, or you simply want somebody accountable standing there. Be clear about the boundary of what a supervisor can warrant. Our own joinery found misaligned is corrected at our cost. Work by a contractor you appointed is reported, photographed and coordinated, and it is not warranted by us, because we did not do it and cannot stand behind another firm's workmanship.

Presence: One Majestic supervisor on site for a full working day of 8 hours, arriving before the first trade
Sequencing: The order of work set out so the electrician is not waiting on the carpenter and the counter is not templated on an unlevel carcass
Checks: Level, plumb, alignment, shutter and drawer gaps and every service position checked as work proceeds
Coordination: Direct contact with your carpenter, electrician, plumber and counter fabricator, so you are not the message carrier
Report: A written end of day summary with photographs, sent the same evening and filed in your project folder
Extra hours: Rs 350 an hour beyond 8, agreed with you on the day before they are worked

What it does not include

No materials: Nothing is supplied on this booking. Boards, hardware, sealant, screws and consumables belong to whoever is doing the work
No other labour: The supervisor supervises. He does not fit, wire, plumb or cut, and asking him to means the checking stops
No warranty on other trades: We report, photograph and coordinate work done by contractors you appointed. We do not warrant it, because we did not do it
Not on a turnkey: Do not book this alongside a Majestic turnkey package. It is already inside that price and booking it would be paying twice
Travel beyond Gaya: Free inside Gaya city. Outside Gaya it is quoted before booking
Approvals: Any permission a society, an apartment association or the municipality wants for work or for lift access is yours to obtain

Who comes, and what happens if it goes wrong

Vetting: Police character verification through the local station, references from previous sites actually contacted, and any licence checked against the issuing register rather than a photocopy
Competence: A supervisor who has run modular kitchen and wardrobe installations, not a coordinator with a checklist. He is expected to read a shop drawing and to say no to a trade
Named before arrival: You are told the supervisor's name and number when the day is confirmed, at least the evening before
Not subcontracted: Majestic's own employee. Majestic is separately owned and affiliated to Shuunnya, and it is Majestic's name on this invoice
Our own work: Any Majestic joinery found out of line on a supervised day is corrected at our cost, including the return visit
Damage: Damage caused by our supervisor or our fitters is repaired or replaced at our cost. Damage by a trade you appointed is photographed and reported to you the same evening, and is between you and that trade
Booking notice: 2 working days, so a named supervisor is held for your date. We print a booking notice, not an arrival time
