The Shuunnya promise

A cut on the child's terms in a room they already know, with the half-charge rule written down before you book rather than argued about afterwards.

  • Child stops the cut, you pay Rs 150 and we come back at the same rate
  • Nothing goes on the hair: no gel, no wax, no spray, nothing sold at the door
  • A parent stays in the room for the whole visit, as a condition
  • New razor blade from a sealed pack, clipper blade autoclaved between children

Details

A haircut for a child up to twelve, in their own room, with no mirror wall and no queue behind them. The barber shows the clipper, runs it on their own hand first, lets the child hold it, and only then starts. Twenty-five minutes if it goes well and fifteen if it does not, and fifteen is a fine outcome. The cheat in a children's haircut is that the price is for a haircut that finishes. A child who bolts at minute four is still billed in full nearly everywhere, which quietly puts the barber's interest against the child's. So the rule here is written down instead: if the child stops the cut, you pay Rs 150 and we come back another day at the same rate. That is half, and it is the barber's travel, not a fee for a haircut you did not get. Nothing is put on a child's hair. No gel, no wax, no spray, no serum, no talc. There is no dry shampoo and there is no product to buy at the door. The cut is done dry, on hair you have washed or not washed, whichever is true. Poise At Home is being stood up in Gaya and nobody is engaged for this role yet. Bookings open when a police-verified person has passed the practical assessment, and not before. We name a service area and we do not name an arrival time, because we have no crew whose travel we could honestly promise anything about.

  • Twenty-five minutes, scissor or clipper, neckline and around the ears, dry finish
  • Fresh razor blade for the neckline if a neckline is being taken, out of a sealed pack in front of you
  • Clipper blade sterilised between children, guards washed
  • A parent stays in the room for the whole visit, and that is a condition of the booking, not an option
  • No photographs, and no request to take one
  • No holding a child still, no bribing, no finishing a cut a child has refused

Product information

What is included, minute by minute
Total
25 minutes for a child who is settled. 15 to 18 for a child who is not, and we would rather stop early than finish badly.
0 to 5 min
Tools out of the bag onto a towel. The clipper is switched on and run over the barber's own forearm, then the child's palm if they want. The cape goes on last, because it is the cape that frightens most of them.
5 to 20 min
Scissor or clipper cut, sides and back, over-comb through the top, around the ears. Breaks whenever the child asks for one, and the timer above is what we plan for, not what we insist on.
20 to 25 min
Neckline with a fresh razor blade if you want a defined one, brush down, cape off, floor swept and the hair carried out in a bag.
Ages
Up to 12. From 13 it is booked as Haircut at Home, Men or Haircut at Home, Women, which are longer and priced differently.
On the hair
Nothing. No gel, wax, spray, serum, talc or dry shampoo. If the hair is tangled the barber uses a wide-tooth comb and water from a spray bottle, and nothing else.
What the struck price is
Rs 359 is the standing rate for this work. Rs 299 is the opening rate while Poise At Home is being stood up in Gaya. A crew with no track record in this district should not charge what a proven one does, and that is the whole of the difference. It is not a countdown and there is no deadline on it.
What is not included, and the arithmetic on a second child
No wash
This is a dry cut. There is no shampoo and no blow dry in it, and there is no version of this booking that adds one. Wash the hair before we arrive if you want it cut clean.
A second child
Rs 299 each, booked as a second booking in the same slot. Two children in one visit is 45 to 50 minutes, and we do not discount the second one, because the second haircut takes as long as the first.
No styling
No colour, no highlights, no patterns or line-ups shaved into the sides, no tattoo fades. A barber who has not cut your child before should not be freehanding a design into their head.
No head lice treatment
If we find lice we say so quietly to you, stop, and charge nothing at all, not even the half. Combing out lice is a medical job and a rushed haircut spreads them.
The half-charge rule, exactly
Rs 150, rounded down from half. It applies from the moment the cape goes on. Before the cape goes on there is no charge at all, even if we have driven across town.
Who comes, hygiene, and if something goes wrong
Who is coming, and when you find out
You get the name of the person and their photograph on the booking confirmation, before they set off. If a different person has to come, you are told before they leave and you can decline without any charge. Nothing is subcontracted: the person at your door is engaged by Poise At Home, not a partner agency and not whoever was free.
Where we come
Gaya town: A.P. Colony, Rampur, Delha, Chandauti, Magadh Colony, Kendui, Bodhgaya road up to the bypass. Outside that ring we say no rather than take the booking and be late. No arrival-time promise: you get a two-hour window and a call when the person leaves for you.
Working with children
Every barber who takes a children's booking has done the additional in-house session on it: how to hold a clipper so a child can see it, when to stop, and why a cut you finish over a screaming child is a failure and not a success. Police character verification is a condition of engagement for anyone entering a home.
What is single-use
Razor blade, neck strip, cotton. Out of a sealed pack at the start and into a bag that leaves with the barber.
How reusable tools are sterilised
Scrubbed under running water, then eight minutes in an ultrasonic bath, then pouched and run through a Class B tabletop autoclave at 121 C and 15 psi for 20 minutes. Each pouch carries a chemical indicator strip that changes colour only if the cycle actually held, and the pouch is opened in front of you so you see the strip. The autoclave is spore-tested with Geobacillus stearothermophilus once a month, because a colour strip proves heat and only a spore test proves the machine kills anything.
The rework window
Seven days. An uneven cut is fixed free, by the same barber, with no second visit fee. A cut the child stopped halfway is not a fault, and finishing it is the return visit you have already half paid for.
If something is damaged or you react
A towel goes under everything and the floor is swept and the sink rinsed before we leave. If we stain a surface, mark a floor or break something, we pay to put it right, and you do not have to argue about it. If your skin reacts to something we applied, stop the session, we stop charging from that point, and we pay for a doctor visit. This is why the patch test on colour is a requirement and not a suggestion.
The honest gap
Poise At Home is being stood up in Gaya and nobody is engaged for this role yet. Bookings open when a police-verified person has passed the practical assessment, and not before. We name a service area and we do not name an arrival time, because we have no crew whose travel we could honestly promise anything about.
