Details
A wash, a cut and a blow dry at home, sixty minutes, on a shape agreed against your own hair rather than a poster on a wall. Two cheats sit in a women's haircut and both are about what is really included. The first is the wash and the blow dry, which are quoted separately almost everywhere, so a Rs 400 cut becomes Rs 750 by the time you are dry. Both are in this price. The second is the product. A salon names a brand at the counter and uses whatever is in the pump bottle at the basin, and you cannot tell, because the bottle at the basin has no label on it. So the products are named here with their own numbers, and they arrive in retail packs with the seals on. The wash is Shuunnya Care Gentle Daily Shampoo: sulphate-free, three named surfactants totalling 15.5 percent active matter, measured pH 5.0, and 10 to 12 ml for shoulder-length hair or 15 to 18 ml below the shoulder. There is no conditioner in the Shuunnya Care range yet, and rather than substitute something unnamed, the therapist finishes with three to four drops of Shuunnya Care Lightweight Hair Serum, which is five ingredients and no silicone. If you would rather use your own conditioner, say so and she will use yours. Poise At Home is being stood up in Gaya and nobody is engaged for this role yet. Bookings open when a police-verified person has passed the practical assessment, and not before. We name a service area and we do not name an arrival time, because we have no crew whose travel we could honestly promise anything about.
- 60 minutes: consultation, wash, cut, blow dry
- Products named above, in sealed retail packs, opened in front of you, and the remainder goes back in the bag rather than being left as a sample you did not ask for
- Fresh razor blade if the ends are razored, out of a sealed pack
- Scissors and combs autoclaved between customers
- Honest trade-off: a home blow dry is a 1,600 W dryer and a round brush in a bedroom, not a salon chair with a wall socket at the right height and a basin that tips. The finish is good and it is not a salon finish, and anyone telling you otherwise has not carried the dryer up your stairs
Product information
What is included, minute by minute, with the products named
- Total
- 60 minutes. Hair below the waist, or very thick hair, runs to 75 and the extra fifteen are not charged.
- 0 to 10 min
- Consultation on dry hair. Density, texture, growth pattern and how you actually wear it on a working morning, then the shape agreed in inches and repeated back. Photographs are useful and are treated as a direction, not a promise, and the therapist says which parts of a photograph your hair will not do.
- 10 to 20 min
- Wash at your bathroom basin or over a portable basin the therapist brings. Shuunnya Care Gentle Daily Shampoo, 10 to 12 ml at shoulder length or 15 to 18 ml below it, worked through and rinsed twice. About 4 to 5 litres of water. Two rinses, because one leaves surfactant behind and that is what makes hair feel coated.
- 20 to 45 min
- Cut on damp hair, sectioned, checked for balance against your parting rather than against the mirror. Razored ends only if you ask and only with a fresh blade.
- 45 to 60 min
- Blow dry with a 1,600 W dryer on medium heat and a round brush, then 3 to 4 drops of Shuunnya Care Lightweight Hair Serum through the mid-lengths and ends. Floor swept, hair bagged, basin rinsed.
- What the struck price is
- Rs 659 is the standing rate for this work. Rs 549 is the opening rate while Poise At Home is being stood up in Gaya. A crew with no track record in this district should not charge what a proven one does, and that is the whole of the difference. It is not a countdown and there is no deadline on it.
What is not included, and what the alternatives cost
- No colour
- Root Touch-Up at Home is Rs 1,199 and needs a patch test 48 hours before, so it cannot be added on the day. That is a rule and not a scheduling preference.
- No conditioner in the range yet
- Shuunnya Care has a shampoo, two hair oils and a serum, and no conditioner. We are not going to substitute an unnamed tub to fill the gap. The serum goes on instead, or your own conditioner if you prefer, and neither changes the price.
- No treatment, no smoothing
- No keratin, no smoothing, no rebonding, no botox treatment. Those are chemical services that want a controlled room and ventilation, and a bedroom is not one.
- No hair spa
- Hair Spa at Home is Rs 999 on its own: oil, a 20-minute scalp massage, steam and a mask. It is a separate 75-minute booking, not fifteen minutes tacked onto this one.
- The three together
- Haircut, cleanup and threading booked separately is 549 plus 649 plus 199, which is Rs 1,397. Salon at Home, Essentials is Rs 899 for the same three in one 2 hour 15 minute visit, and that is Rs 498 less because it is one journey instead of three.
- Nothing is sold
- The therapist carries retail packs to use, not to sell. If you want the shampoo, it is on the store at Rs 380 for 200 ml, and she will tell you that rather than carry stock.
Who comes, hygiene, and if something goes wrong
- Who is coming, and when you find out
- You get the name of the person and their photograph on the booking confirmation, before they set off. If a different person has to come, you are told before they leave and you can decline without any charge. Nothing is subcontracted: the person at your door is engaged by Poise At Home, not a partner agency and not whoever was free.
- Where we come
- Gaya town: A.P. Colony, Rampur, Delha, Chandauti, Magadh Colony, Kendui, Bodhgaya road up to the bypass. Outside that ring we say no rather than take the booking and be late. No arrival-time promise: you get a two-hour window and a call when the person leaves for you.
- A woman stylist
- Ask for one at booking and you get one, or you get told before the slot is confirmed that we do not have one free, which is the honest half of that answer.
- Competence
- In-house training and a monthly watched practical, the same as every barber. There is no statutory hairdressing licence in India, so there is no certificate to show you, and we would rather say that than frame something meaningless.
- What is single-use and thrown away in front of you
- Anything porous cannot be sterilised, so it is never reused: emery boards, buffers, cotton, wooden cuticle sticks, wax spatulas, threading thread, razor blades, tub liners, sponges and applicators. They come out of a sealed pack at the start of your visit and go into a bag that leaves with the therapist.
- How reusable tools are sterilised
- Scrubbed under running water, then eight minutes in an ultrasonic bath, then pouched and run through a Class B tabletop autoclave at 121 C and 15 psi for 20 minutes. Each pouch carries a chemical indicator strip that changes colour only if the cycle actually held, and the pouch is opened in front of you so you see the strip. The autoclave is spore-tested with Geobacillus stearothermophilus once a month, because a colour strip proves heat and only a spore test proves the machine kills anything.
- The rework window
- Seven days. If a cut is uneven, a shape is wrong, a colour has not taken evenly or a finish has not held, the same person comes back and fixes it at no charge and with no second visit fee. That covers our work. It does not cover a change of mind about the shape you agreed, hair you have cut or coloured yourself since, or a reaction to a product you asked us to use against our advice.
- If something is damaged or you react
- A towel goes under everything and the floor is swept and the sink rinsed before we leave. If we stain a surface, mark a floor or break something, we pay to put it right, and you do not have to argue about it. If your skin reacts to something we applied, stop the session, we stop charging from that point, and we pay for a doctor visit. This is why the patch test on colour is a requirement and not a suggestion.
- The honest gap
- Poise At Home is being stood up in Gaya and nobody is engaged for this role yet. Bookings open when a police-verified person has passed the practical assessment, and not before. We name a service area and we do not name an arrival time, because we have no crew whose travel we could honestly promise anything about.
