A men's haircut in your own chair. Five minutes agreeing the length in numbers rather than adjectives, twenty-five minutes cutting, five minutes on the lines and the sweep-up. The cheat in a men's haircut at home is the doorstep add-on. You book at Rs 349, and then there is a wash, and a beard, and a face pack, and a massage, and the bill is Rs 900 by the time the barber packs up. So here is the boundary in one line: there is nothing to add. No wash, no beard, no facial, no head massage, no product sold. If you want the beard done too, that is Men's Grooming at Home at Rs 649, booked before the visit, and the barber cannot upgrade you at the door because there is no way for him to take the money. There is no wash in this and there is no blow dry. A men's cut is cut dry or damp, and a proper wash at home needs a basin and five litres of water and twenty minutes that are not in this price. Wash your hair before we arrive and the barber will damp it down with a spray bottle and cut it clean. Nothing goes on your hair at the end. No gel, no wax, no serum, no talc, no aftershave splash. What is included, minute by minute
- Total
- 35 minutes, door to door in your house. Longer hair or a tight skin fade runs to 45 and there is no charge for the extra ten.
- 0 to 5 min
- Length agreed in numbers, not adjectives: guard 1 through 4 on the sides, and a stated number of finger-widths off the top. The barber repeats it back before he starts. Most bad haircuts are a translation error at this step.
- 5 to 30 min
- Clipper work on the sides and back, taper or fade blended by hand, scissor-over-comb through the top, texture and thinning only if you ask for it.
- 30 to 35 min
- Neckline and side lines with a fresh razor blade, ears cleaned up, brush down, cape off. Floor swept, hair bagged, the surface you sat by wiped.
- What the barber brings
- Clippers with a full guard set, two pairs of scissors, a thinning scissor, a straight razor with a fresh blade, combs, a cape, neck strips, a spray bottle, a towel and a small mirror. All of it in one bag, and the bag does not go on your bed or your sofa.
- What the struck price is
- Rs 419 is the standing rate for this work. Rs 349 is the opening rate while Poise At Home is being stood up in Gaya. A crew with no track record in this district should not charge what a proven one does, and that is the whole of the difference. It is not a countdown and there is no deadline on it.
What is not included, and what the alternatives cost
- No wash, no blow dry
- Not in this price and not addable. Wash your hair before the barber arrives; he damps it with a spray bottle and cuts it clean. A basin wash at home is twenty minutes and five litres of water and it belongs in Haircut at Home, Women at Rs 549, where it is priced in.
- No beard
- Beard shaping is Men's Grooming at Home, Rs 649, which is this haircut plus the beard and a hot towel finish. Booked in advance. Rs 649 against Rs 349 plus a walk-in beard is the honest comparison and it is the cheaper one.
- No shave
- We do not do a wet cut-throat shave at home. A straight razor on a face needs a chair that reclines and light we control, and neither exists in your bedroom.
- No colour, no facial, no massage
- Colour is Root Touch-Up at Home, Rs 1,199, and it needs a patch test 48 hours ahead so it can never be a same-visit add-on. There is no head massage and no face pack in this booking.
- Nothing is sold
- The barber carries no retail stock. He cannot sell you a wax, a serum or a course of six cuts, because there is none in the bag.
- A second person
- Rs 349 each, as a second booking in the same slot. The second cut takes as long as the first, so it costs the same.
Who comes, hygiene, and if something goes wrong
- Who is coming, and when you find out
- You get the name of the person and their photograph on the booking confirmation, before they set off. If a different person has to come, you are told before they leave and you can decline without any charge. Nothing is subcontracted: the person at your door is engaged by Poise At Home, not a partner agency and not whoever was free.
- Where we come
- Gaya town: A.P. Colony, Rampur, Delha, Chandauti, Magadh Colony, Kendui, Bodhgaya road up to the bypass. Outside that ring we say no rather than take the booking and be late. No arrival-time promise: you get a two-hour window and a call when the person leaves for you.
- Competence
- In-house training on clipper work and fade blending, and a practical assessment watched by a senior barber once a month. Nothing about a barber's skill is licensed in India, so a monthly practical is the only evidence there is, and it is the evidence we use.
- What is single-use
- Razor blade, neck strip, cotton. Out of a sealed pack in front of you and into a bag that leaves with the barber. A blade is never wiped and reused, on you or on anyone else.
- How reusable tools are sterilised
- Scrubbed under running water, then eight minutes in an ultrasonic bath, then pouched and run through a Class B tabletop autoclave at 121 C and 15 psi for 20 minutes. Each pouch carries a chemical indicator strip that changes colour only if the cycle actually held, and the pouch is opened in front of you so you see the strip. The autoclave is spore-tested with Geobacillus stearothermophilus once a month, because a colour strip proves heat and only a spore test proves the machine kills anything.
- The rework window
- Seven days. If a cut is uneven, a shape is wrong, a colour has not taken evenly or a finish has not held, the same person comes back and fixes it at no charge and with no second visit fee. That covers our work. It does not cover a change of mind about the shape you agreed, hair you have cut or coloured yourself since, or a reaction to a product you asked us to use against our advice.
- If something is damaged or you react
- A towel goes under everything and the floor is swept and the sink rinsed before we leave. If we stain a surface, mark a floor or break something, we pay to put it right, and you do not have to argue about it. If your skin reacts to something we applied, stop the session, we stop charging from that point, and we pay for a doctor visit. This is why the patch test on colour is a requirement and not a suggestion.
