Details
A 1500 W cordless kettle built to our written specification rather than picked off a maker's shelf, on one decision: nothing but stainless steel and food-grade silicone touches the boiling water. The interior body, the lid inner, the spout filter and the element plate are all SS 304, food-contact grade, body wall 0.4 mm minimum, with the element concealed under the plate so there is no exposed coil to scale over. The lid seal and the plate gasket are food-grade silicone rated for continuous 120 C. That is the whole water path, and there is nothing else in it. The cheat in this category is quiet and it is nearly universal. A kettle in this price band has a stainless body and a plastic everything-else: a plastic lid inner, a plastic spout filter, a plastic water-level window and a plastic collar around the element plate. All four sit in the water or the steam, none of them is mentioned on the box, and that is where the BPA question comes from and why a cheap kettle smells of plastic for its first month. The second cheat is the word stainless with no number after it. SS 202 substitutes manganese for nickel, costs materially less, looks identical on the shelf and pits in a year of boiling; a listing that says stainless steel and nothing more has told you nothing. The third is the missing dry-boil cutout: switch an empty kettle on and a unit built to a price will run the element until something gives.
- SS 304, food-contact grade, on the interior body, lid inner, spout filter and element plate, verified on the finished kettle by an alloy check rather than accepted on a supplier's certificate
- No plastic and no coating anywhere the water or the steam reaches, including the lid underside and the element collar, confirmed by tearing one unit down per production lot
- Silicone lid seal rated for continuous 120 C, replaceable by hand without a tool
- Dry-boil cutout and auto switch-off on boil, both mechanical bimetal, both resettable, both rated to 10,000 cycles, and both independent of each other
- Zero standby draw, because a mechanical rocker switch has no always-on circuit behind it; there is no PCB, no microcontroller and no LED ring in this kettle
- 1.5 L reaches a rolling boil in 5 min 40 s from water at 25 C, at 230 V, ambient 27 C, kettle at rest and lid closed, drawing about 0.14 units, close to Rs 1.10 at Rs 8 a unit
- The 360 degree base contact ring is screw-fixed and stocked as a service part; in almost every kettle sold it is riveted or heat-staked in, so a pitted ring ends the appliance
- Assembled with mechanical fasteners throughout, no structural adhesive, so the handle and the base come apart with a screwdriver
- Three-core cord with earth, and 100 percent of units earth-continuity tested before they leave the line
- There is no water-level window, because the only cheap way to make one is in plastic and that would break the claim above. You judge by the fill marks pressed into the inside of the rim, or you pour in a measured jug
- There is no keep-warm and no temperature select. Both need a board, and the board is the commonest electronic failure in a kettle
- Steel conducts, so the lid and the spout collar get hot even though the outer body stays holdable. Use the handle
- Steel does not stop scale. In hard water descale monthly with citric acid or the element plate will lose its efficiency like any other

- 3 min 50 s (1.0 L), 5 min 40 s (1.5 L), 6 min 20 s (1.7 L)
- Measured how
- Water at 25 C, ambient 27 C, supply 230 V, kettle at rest, lid closed, to a rolling boil
- Energy per full boil
- 0.10 units (1.0 L), 0.14 units (1.5 L), 0.16 units (1.7 L). Power x time, and it checks
- Cost per full boil
- About Rs 0.80 to Rs 1.30 at Rs 8 per unit

- Base contact ring, lid seal, spout filter, handle. Prices printed on a card in the box
- Technician-replaceable
- Element plate, both thermostats, switch, cord set
- Spares period
- 5 years from purchase
- What makes that real
- A spares bank bought with the first production run, a five-year supply clause in the manufacturing agreement, and the tooling held in our name, so the parts can be made again if the maker moves on
- Comprehensive warranty
- 2 years, parts and labour
- Element warranty
- 3 years, separate from and additional to the comprehensive cover
- Excluded
- Scale damage where the kettle has not been descaled, supply outside 180 V to 250 V, cosmetic marks, and damage caused by a repair attempt. Opening the kettle to change a listed owner-replaceable part voids nothing
- Service
- There is no Shuunnya service network yet and we will not print an engineer count, a city list or a turnaround time for one that does not exist. In warranty we arrange the pickup and settle by repair, replacement or refund. Out of warranty the spares are on the shelf at published prices and any competent local technician can fit them
