The Shuunnya promise
A trimmer that ends when you decide rather than when the cell does, with the capacity given in watt hours and the charge claim cut down to what it really buys.
- Cell out with two screws: standard 14500 or 18500, stocked 7 years, price set
- Capacity 2.96 Wh at 3.7 V, not a bare mAh, with the 2 W draw behind the runtime
- Blade 440C stainless at 58 HRC, comb a 2 to 3 micron coating of titanium nitride
- Head washes under a tap, body sealed to IPX4 and not submersible, said plainly

Details
Almost every trimmer sold is thrown away when the cell stops holding charge, because the cell is soldered to the board inside a housing closed with adhesive. This one has two Philips screws, a rear panel and a clipped in cell, and the cell is a standard 14500 or 18500 cylindrical rather than a custom pouch, which matters more than the screws do: a standard format is a part the world makes, not a part only we can make. Now the numbers, because mAh is the most inflated figure in small electronics. 800 mAh means nothing without a voltage. At the cell's nominal 3.7 V it is 2.96 Wh, and the 1600 mAh is 5.92 Wh. The motor draws about 2 W at the 3 mm comb on an ordinary beard, so 2.96 Wh divided by 2 W is about 90 minutes and 5.92 Wh is about 180. Every one of those figures is on this page so the arithmetic closes. Charging runs the same way and gives an answer we would rather print than dress up. USB C at 5 V and 0.5 A is 2.5 W in, about 80 percent of which reaches the cell, so a full charge takes about as long as a full run. Two minutes on the charger therefore buys about two minutes of running. That is enough to tidy an edge. It is not, whatever the category says, one full trim. One more piece of plain speech. The gold coloured fixed comb is titanium nitride coated steel, two to three microns of it, which is exactly what everybody else means when they print titanium blade. It is a coating on steel and we will call it that.
- Battery out with two Philips screws and a rear panel. Standard 14500 (800 mAh) or 18500 (1600 mAh) cylindrical cell, clipped in, not soldered
- Cell stocked for 7 years at a published Rs 240 and Rs 360. What makes that real is a spares bank bought with the first production run, a seven year supply clause with the maker, and a standard cell format that does not depend on either
- 800 mAh at 3.7 V is 2.96 Wh and 1600 mAh is 5.92 Wh. mAh without a voltage is not a capacity, and it is the number this whole category inflates
- Runtime about 90 minutes and 180 minutes, at a motor draw of about 2 W with a clean oiled blade at 25 C. A dry blade drags and the runtime falls
- Charge about 90 and 180 minutes from empty over USB C at 5 V and 0.5 A. Two minutes on the charger gives about two minutes of running, and we would rather print that than call it one full trim
- Blade is 440C stainless hardened to about 58 HRC, self sharpening against a fixed comb in the same steel with a 2 to 3 micron titanium nitride coating. Not a titanium blade, because there is no such thing at this price
- 20 detented lengths from 0.5 mm to 10 mm in 0.5 mm steps, so a setting repeats exactly instead of drifting on a smooth slider
- The head detaches and washes under a tap. The body is sealed to IPX4 and must not be submerged, which is what fully washable means on almost every trimmer sold and is almost never said
- Corded mode works on USB C with a flat cell, so a dead battery is an inconvenience rather than a wasted morning. No proprietary cradle
- DC motor, about 2 W, 6,000 cutting strokes a minute, 58 dB(A) at 1 m
- Blade set, combs, cell, motor and switch are all stocked, spares held 7 years, with the housing, comb and head tooling held in our name
- 2 years comprehensive, 3 years separately on the motor, and 2 years on the battery. A cell that has simply lost capacity over 500 charge cycles is wear, not a defect, which is what the 500 cycle figure is there to tell you
- Left out: no glued housing, no soldered in cell, no proprietary charging cradle, no blade you cannot replace
- There is no Shuunnya service network. A claim is answered by sending the part, and the cell, the blade set and the combs are all owner fits. We do not promise a turnaround, because we cannot keep one yet

Blade, cut and washing
- Blade
- 440C stainless, hardened to about 58 HRC, self sharpening against a fixed comb in the same steel
- Comb coating
- Titanium nitride, 2 to 3 microns, on the fixed edge. A coating on steel, which is what titanium blade means everywhere
- Length settings
- 20 detented steps, 0.5 mm to 10 mm in 0.5 mm increments
- Motor
- DC, about 2 W, 6,000 cutting strokes a minute
