The Shuunnya promise

A refill that names its format, its part number, its measured writing length and the exact pens it does and does not fit, with a stocking commitment written as a date rule rather than as a promise.

  • Part LEAF-BP98, Parker-style G2, 98.5 mm by 6.0 mm, dimensions printed
  • Fits the Refillable Ballpoint Pen. Does not fit the Gaya quick ball pen
  • Writing length 1,600 m measured on the ISO 12757 machine
  • Stocked while the pen sells and for five years after it is discontinued

Details

Ball point refills in the Parker-style G2 format, part number LEAF-BP98, 98.5 mm long by 6.0 mm across the brass barrel, with a 0.7 mm tungsten carbide ball and oil-based documentary ink to ISO 12757-2. A refillable pen with no refill supply is a disposable pen with better marketing, so the two things a refill listing owes you are which pens it fits and whether it will still be here next year. Both are printed below rather than implied. The usual cheat in this aisle is a refill sold by a vague description, my pen or standard size, so it arrives 6 mm too long or 0.2 mm too fat and the pen will not close. The second is a house-format refill designed to fit only one pen and then quietly dropped, which strands the pen. G2 is not a house format. It is the common industry envelope, which means this refill is not the only one your pen can ever take.

  • Fits the Shuunnya Leaf Refillable Ballpoint Pen in all three finishes: brushed brass, matte black and stainless steel
  • It does NOT fit the Refillable Ball Pen sold on the Gaya quick shelf. That pen takes part LEAF-BR07, 107 mm by 5.9 mm, at Rs 10 a refill, and putting a G2 in it is not a matter of force
  • Because G2 is an industry format and not ours, any other Parker-style G2 refill fits this pen too. We would rather tell you that than pretend the pen is locked to us
  • We will keep LEAF-BP98 in stock for as long as the pen is sold, and for five years after the day it is discontinued. That is the commitment, stated as a date rule rather than as the word always
  • Writing length measured 1,600 m on the ISO 12757 writing machine, at 4.5 degrees off vertical on standard test paper. A pen used for an hour a day of ordinary note taking gets roughly ten months from one refill
  • Ink is oil-based, documentary grade to ISO 12757-2, which is the grade meant to survive on a signed document rather than to feel smooth in a shop
  • Barrel is brass with a stainless steel tip and a tungsten carbide ball, not a plated steel ball that flat-spots and starts skipping at about 300 m
  • Packs are mixed: 3 is two black and one blue, 5 is three black and two blue, 10 is six black and four blue
  • Rs 50 a refill at three, Rs 46 at five, Rs 42 at ten. A new pen is Rs 690, so refilling costs about 7 percent of replacing
  • There is no BIS product specification for a ball point refill, so the grade named here is the ISO one and the writing length is the ISO method, measured rather than estimated
