Eight group sessions a month at the Gaya academy, taken across guitar, tabla or Hindustani vocal in any mix you like. Learn tabla and sing in the same month if that is what you want, at one price instead of two. The number here is set at eight on purpose, and that is the honest part. A membership sold as unlimited is priced on the certainty that almost nobody turns up, and the few who do are quietly discouraged. Eight is a realistic month at two sessions a week, it is what the timetable can actually seat, and unused sessions do not carry into the next month, which is stated here rather than found later. Bought singly those eight sessions are Rs 3,200 to Rs 3,600; here they are Rs 1,600, which is Rs 200 a session. Below about four sessions a month, paying per session is cheaper and we will tell you so.

• 8 group sessions a month, any mix of guitar, tabla and Hindustani vocal
• Rs 1,600 a month, which is Rs 200 a session against Rs 400 to Rs 450 singly
• Practice room access outside class hours, free, booked on the day, 2 hours at a time
• Academy guitar, tabla, harmonium and tanpura available in class and in the practice rooms
• No auto renewal and no card kept on file. Cancelling is simply not renewing
• Renew early and the new month begins when the old one ends, so no paid day is lost
• Unused sessions do not carry over, and there is no pause facility
• Kathak and the painting studio are not included, and one to one lessons are separate at Rs 900 an hour
