Made to last

On durability as a kindness - to you, and to the planet.

The cheapest thing is rarely the least expensive. A pan that warps, a kettle that dies in a year, a jacket that pills after two washes - each is a small cost that keeps coming back, and a little more waste sent downstream.

We lean the other way. We favour things made to be used for a long time: honest materials, repairable where possible, finished to take everyday life rather than to photograph well once.

Buy well, buy once.

It is the old, sensible idea - and it happens to be the gentler one. Things that last need replacing less, which means less bought, less discarded, less harm. Good for the shelf at home, good for the world it sits in.
